Classmate Spotlight Michelle Dutka Grogan
Michele Dutka left 12 days after we graduated from high school for Army basic training. She had a remarkable career serving our country both here and abroad for 9 years as an Automatic Data Processing Telecommunications Center Operator. Michele left the Army with a status of Sgt. E-5 after serving in 3 major conflicts and traveling to more than 6 countries during her service. She was an honor grad, being first in her class in AIT school, and passed the Men’s Physical Test. Michele received 2 Army Good Conduct medals, and received the Army Arcom medal for outstanding service in Egypt during training missions.
Michele has traded in one tough job for another. She now has 4 children. She is still close to her military background, as her husband is currently serving in Afghanistan as an army consultant. He has also served active duty in the Army’s 101st Airborne Division and they have settled in Fort Campbell area of Tennessee.
Michele will be at our reunion, so please thank her for her service and commitment to our country.
Class of 1988 Gift for HK High School
The HK Class of 1988 will be making donations to Haddam-Killingworth High School by supporting a "Student Recognition Award Wall" Sign. The sign and awards recognition area will be located on the wall between the office and the media center. The school has invested in special lighting to enhance the Student Awards that will be placed in the immediate area. Our High School has had student recognition and awards for a number of sports but NO academics. This wall will recognize honor roll students, volunteer initiatives, Special Awards and scholarships to name a few.
Update- The Student Recognition Wall is already being built, thanks to generous donations by our classmates for our 20 Year Reunion. We raised over $500 towards it's production and maintenance. This area will be outside the Main Office and will be presented from the HK Class of 1988 in memory of Jose Aguilar, Trina Annicelli, John Cernan, and John McCabe.
If you would like to make further contributions to the Class Gift, please make checks out to HK High School and memo 'class of 1988.' Mail checks to: Christi Stille, 32 Scar Hill Road, Boylston, MA 01505
